CULTIVATION: Moderately difficult requires minimum winter temperatures of 4ºC to 6ºC providing it has dry moving air (no condensation) with only minimum water given.
An electric fan heater is idea in the winter.
C&S compost with added coarse grit is best.

Over 6ºC a little more water can be given, together with good light, the plant will respond and produce its brilliant flowers from February to March in the northern hemisphere.

PROPAGATION: A little difficult, offspring can be produced from :-
1. The flowering stem method. It is necessary to remove all the finished flowers , then carefully remove the flower stem (penduncle) and cut into several pieces each with some leaves, allow to dry for a day then plant in a very sandy compost and wait!!
2. Offsets; difficult- as production of these is occaisional.
Leaves are difficult, usually they root but are very slow, if at all, to produce plantlets.
