Echeveria from Zaragoza ?
Unknown.
A very nice unknown species from Mexico or Columbia?
It does not seem to have been recorded in any literature that I possess, or
on the Internet as far as my searches go.
There is some possibility it was found in Zaragoza?
If the plant originated from Zaragossa there are several places, I have found
on maps, in Mexico and one possible in North Columbia.
My best guess would be Zaragoza on the trail to San Carlosa near Piedras
Negras, Cohahuila, MAP
Other similar plants are documented as located in various parts of Cohahuila,
one quite similar plant - Echeveria cuspidata.
Ref. Authors E. Walther, S.N. Palmer,
Dr J.N. Rose.
My plant was purchased 5 or 6 years ago from a local nursery now closed down,
as E. from sarossa, probably my re- labelling error.

The
size of the mature rosette can attain up to 10 cm Ø, and appears to be stemless,
leaves lingulate, apices apiculate (each terminated with a black 2 mm spine
greyish brown on older leaves). The spines are soft and easily broken off. The
older leaves are slightly keeled.
Dimensions of the matured leaf:-
Overall length 45 mm to 50 mm.
Leaf tip spine 2 mm long x 0.3 mm Ø.
Widest part of leaf up to 15 mm.
Narrowest part (base) 7/8 mm.
CULTIVATION:
Can be difficult, use a well drained C&S compost with some added slow release
fertiliser. Growth in the summer is fairly slow so only repot when the plant
outgrows it's container. In the winter, conditions should be just enough water
to stop drying out at a temperature of 3/5ºC Good air circulation and full light
is essential..
PROPAGATION:
Only attempt in Spring and early Summer by offsets if any appear, using great
care. The flowering stem technique has
not been tried.
Leaves should be OK, I am at the moment (April 2004) giving some more leaves
a try.
Inflorescence
Details
Each inflorescence a simple, secund raceme; scape to 17 cm tall and up to 20
cm long. Flowers to 13 or more; pedicels to 12 mm.
The newly formed raceme is gracefully arched then straitens as the flowers mature.
Sepals unequal, longest 3 mm, shortest 2 mm.
Corolla to 12 mm long, 8 Ø near base; petals spreading at tips to 10 mm Ø.
Flowering for two months from end of February to end of April.
Update: rosette at 6 May 2004.
This year's rosette has somewhat shrivelled outer leaves due to the winter conditions
this year. At the time of writing they are plumping out and now looking fine.
