Echeveria x 'Candy Wright'D. Wright
Described in Les Carruthers 1973 plant list as "slow growing, one of the more compact and distinctive plants, with leaves broad and forming close, 8" dia, wavy, rosettes of burnt pink and the leaf margins a darker pink".
The description of this plant I find slightly different to my plant, is that mine forms a quick growing stem but otherwise is identical.
This plant is a typical Californian hybrid with a large colourful, frilly edged, rosette on top of a fast growing stem. This year (2003) my plant has produced a 9" (23 cm dia. rosette.
Beheading the rosette is advisable every other year, which quickly produces roots in warm conditions during early summer - then making a compact plant again.

An added bonus is the bright flowers which contrast well with the leaves.
So many of these American hybrids have flowers more or less the same colour as the leaves.

CULTIVATION:
Very easy in normal C&S compost with added slow release fertiliser. Growth in the summer is fairly rapid so repot when the plant really outgrows it's container.
In the winter, conditions should be just enough water to stop drying out at and a temperature of 4/6ºC, with good air circulation and plenty of light is essential.

PROPAGATION:
Fairly easy in Spring and early Summer by beheading, then rooting and potting up the rosette.
The old stem then may produce offsets. I have not tried the flowering stem technique but it is worthwhile trying.
