Crassula streyi. H R Tolken.
ISI 1463 date 1984.
A magnificent succulent foliage plant from the Port Edward area of KwaZulu-Natal, collected by R G Strey
.
The greenish white flowers appear in late Autumn to early Winter in the Northern hemisphere.
The beautiful coloured leaves are its best attraction dark green with white spots above and magenta purple below.
If my plant flowers I will add a picture.
Not a plant for the average cactus - succulent house as it dislikes direct sun, preferring semi-shade and kept warm all the time.

CULTIVATION: is not easy, a John Innes compost, with no peat, is probably the best and kept out of bright light all the time. The plant needs to be well watered all the year round. Winter minimum temperature is 8ºC but better at 12ºC. The leaves tend to shrivel in full sun so be warned. Re pot every 2/3 years using the above compost with added slow release fertiliser.
Old plants sprawl and become untidy with marked leaves in old age. Take cuttings regularly to keep a good stock going.

PROPAGATION: from cuttings and leaves in Spring and early summer. Best in a shaded propagator.
