Pachyphytum oviferum
J. A. Purpus
Well known as the sugared almond plant,
this plant is widely distributed and popular due to the plump lavender
leaves covered with a white pruinose covering. Regrettably the coating
is easily spoilt by handling, children especially like to touch to see
if is real. The plant can grow up to 20 cm high and leaf rosettes can
attain 10 cm across.

Flowering at any time of the
year is no problem as long as plenty of sunshine is available. The above
picture was taken after above average early winter sunshine. A rarity
in the UK.
Easy to grow and propagate, its chief requirement
is full light at all times.
Winter cool house conditions suffice with only minimum watering when
the compost dries out.
