Kalanchoe
beharensis
A popular plant available in several cultivars
and forms. Planted in beds rather than in pots most forms could grow up to 2/3
m. In the average glass house, in a 3 litre pot, 50 cms is big enough after
which they should be beheaded and rooted on. Cultivation and propagation is
easy, leaves will root but it takes 10/12 weeks for the new shoots to appear.
Some water is needed in the winter, when a temperature of 5°C minimum is required
to keep the magnificent leaves thriving.
Large plants will produce a 50 cm tall flower stem terminating the stem, which
I consider unworthy.
