Aeonium arboreum cv. Zwartkop.
The type species A. arboreum is a single stemmed sub shrub, with but a few branches, quickly ascending to 1 metre or so in height and topped by the main leaf rosette of up to 20 cm. Left to its own wont this cultivar would grow much the same. To improve an already attractive plant, one could take several cuttings and plant 7 or 8 in a 13 cm. pot and grow on for a season or two as in the

picture above. Alternatively beheading the main stem can produce several side branches producing a tree like effect. Growing and propagation is very easy and the plants will survive in most glasshouse conditions where frost free in the winter. A fertile soil will produce the large colourful rosettes in the summer. I know of no instance of flowering in the UK, but who needs them.
