Crassula capitella cv 'Flame' flowers
The left picture shows flowers on the lower part of the stem, the right hand picture shows flowers near the tapering top of the stem. With a browser in a 800 X 600 display the magnification is approx. X5 life size. The flowering period starts in November and goes through to the end of March, each flower lasting for 3/4 weeks.
The parts of a crassula flower are described in detail in Gordon Rowley's book "Name that Succulent". In this case it is easy to identify the sepals, the petals and the stamens all having the same number of parts- 5. No sign of the pistils could be found or any evidence of developed ovaries, the latter possibly due to the lack of pollinators in our winter.
