Echeveria
x Perle-von-Nurnberg
One
of the best 'von Nurnberg' hybrid
clones produced from crossing E.gibbiflora metallica with E. potosina
originated by Graessner, Perleberg, Germany.
It is however, difficult to be sure of the validity of names of this
group. Cultivation methods and seasonal variations produce subtle changes
of form
and
colour.
The plant pictured above is very old in echeveria terms, some ten summers
no less. Typically this hybrid started off with a straight stem bearing
a superb, beautifully symmetric, rosette of leaves.
Each leaf being purplish pink and strongly pruinose. A resulting delicate
pastel pink plant sensation.

inflorescences, bearing many flowers, caused the main stem to sag and
it could have easily broken off. In this case however, it was conveniently
supported by an adjoining pot. This coming year (2004) I must try and
transfer the plant to a trough, otherwise the likes of this will ne'er
be seen again.
CULTIVATION: very easy, good light improves the delicate pastel colours.
A necessity for success.
Normal succulent compost with low nitrogen and high potash is OK.
PROPAGATION is easy from from leaves, cuttings, and offsets. Plants
produced from leaves will often make very nice clumps. It is best to
start new plants every 2 or 3 years, to maintain good young stock.
