Echeveria x Phyllis Collis J
Hughes.
A cross between Echeveria cante and Echeveria
affinis by R Collis and named after
his wife Phyllis .
The leaves form a large rosette, from
E. cante and the inflorescence is compact, inherited from E. affinis
but larger.
The leaf colour is lavender to lilac overlaid with a light farina.
The plant offsets from the base in a tidy fashion giving an ideal perfect
mode of growth.
My plant died one winter long ago but I have been lucky recently to
find and purchase a small plant.

CULTIVATION: is a little difficult use
a well drained C & S compost in good light and keep well ventilated.
Watering should be carried out with great care from the bottom, in winter
just enough water to keep the plant ticking over. Minimum temperatures
5 C. Careful removal of dead leaves is essential to prevent botrytis
fungus.
PROPAGATION: by leaf cuttings if they can be taken off whole (not so
easy). Offsets are easy to take but need a long time to establish. There
is a possibility of using the flowering stem but I have never attempted
it.
