Echeveria gibbiflora "Vera Cruz"

Echeveria gibbiflora from Vera Cruz.
Location: Vera Cruz, Mexico.
A magnificent plant with most beautiful violet- blue leaves. The winter flowers are muted orange and yellow colours on long stems. Offsets slowly and new plants will come from rooted flower stems. A must for any enthusiast.
I cannot find any mention to this plant in any of my reference books. The habit of growth is most unlike most other gibbiflora species, cultivars or forms in that the rosette is compact and virtually stemless and offsets form near the base. The production of flowers is continuos over a long period.

CULTIVATION: is reasonably easy using a normal Cactus & Succulent compost and keeping the plants in good light. It is recommended that repotting is carried out each year in the spring.

PROPAGATION: best by using the flowering stem which is usually successful. Offsets are produced regularly albeit slowly, these root easily resulting in good plants.
I have not tried leaves and would consider it difficult due to the trouble involved in detaching them intact..
