Locality: Mexico.
A well known and liked plant sold everywhere as a house plant as well as a succulent.
As far as I know it has the biggest flowers in the Echeveria genus, making a grand show with its bright scarlet, yellow tipped blooms in May and June. The petals start joined at the tip and then open part way.
In July 1957 E. harmsii received an Award of Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society, a well deserved prize.

Cultivation is very easy:
A small sub-shrub requiring a normal well drained compost and plenty of water in the growing season
. Full light helps to keep the plant erect.
In the winter enough water just to stop excessive leaf drop. A minimum winter temperature of 2ºC with good light and some air circulation is required.

Propagation is very easy:
The leaf rosettes are at the tip of the branches and eventually the plant gets straggly and stem cuttings should be taken, during the growing season, planted two or three to a 7 cm pot. They root very quickly in sandy compost. Repot into a larger pot when active growth is seen using slow release fertiliser.
